Language is a uniquely human attribute, and we use it for communicating with one another. Computer programs, even the most popular ones like "Rossetta Stone" are “static”. The power of real-life improvisation is missing, because there are only so many interactions programmed for practice. These computer CD's are excellent as a supplement, but very limited for substantial learning.

There are other options like internet resources, with thousands of pages that offer interesting activities. However they are in “bits and pieces” that are very difficult to put together as a cohesive and solid Spanish program. While these are good for support and extra practice, an integrated program is needed to enjoy the full range of effective benefits.
